At Numeracy Consultants, our mission is to transform math intervention by equipping educators with effective, evidence-informed strategies. Founded in 2010 by Dane Ziemba, the company grew from a deep-seated commitment to truly impactful math education.
With over 24 years of dedicated experience in education, Dane brings a wealth of practical and academic expertise to every program at Numeracy Consultants.
- Educational Background: Dane holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Arts in Special Education (Learning Disabilities) from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. This strong academic foundation provides the bedrock for our research-based approach. He has worked as a general education teacher, an interventionist, a special education teacher , and as consultant over the past 24 years.
- Driving Force: Numeracy Consultants was born out of Dane's profound frustration with the state of math intervention resources available at the time. Large publishers often offered a "tutoring" approach that lacked the depth and diagnostic precision required for true intervention. Dane envisioned something more: a systematic, data-driven methodology that addressed the root causes of mathematical difficulties, not just the symptoms.
- From Vision to Program: Driven by this vision, Dane embarked on a rigorous and time consuming journey of reading research and developing materials. Year by year, piece by piece, he meticulously built numeracy assessments and intervention programs. What began as a single counting assessment evolved into comprehensive, multi-content area programs designed to pinpoint specific learning gaps and provide targeted, effective support.
- Empowering Educators: Beyond program development, Dane has directly trained thousands of teachers over the years. Our online trainings, a testament to the accessibility and impact of our methods. Since 2010, Numeracy Consultants has proudly received over 10,000 views on our free training webinars, with thousands of educators and schools also participating in our paid professional development. Today, hundreds of schools across the country use our programs to build stronger foundations in math instruction.
