Catch It Early: Free Kindergarten Numeracy Screener

The earlier you identify a student's gaps, the sooner you can close them. The Numeracy Readiness Screener is a free, five-minute assessment designed for preschool and beginning-of-year kindergarten students — pinpointing the foundational numeracy skills every child needs before formal math instruction begins. Watch the video to see how to administer it.

From Screener to Full Intervention

From Screener to Full Intervention

The Numeracy Readiness Screener isn't a standalone tool — it's the starting point of a complete intervention system. There is intentional overlap between the screener and the Primary Numeracy Intervention Program (K–3), ensuring that students identified early can move directly into structured, leveled instruction without missing a step.

From there, the early levels of the supplemental eLibrary system provide the lesson sequences and practice materials to keep instruction moving forward — and Instant Intervention is available whenever a student needs more targeted, teacher-led support with minimal preparation required.

From Screener to Full Intervention

This quick, teacher-administered assessment pinpoints where each student stands on core early numeracy skills. It's straightforward to administer, requires no special training, and delivers the kind of precise information that makes early intervention possible — not eventual.

The screener connects directly to the early levels of the Primary Numeracy Intervention Program, so the path from assessment to instruction is clear and immediate. For additional reinforcement, our math games offer engaging, skill-building practice that complements early numeracy instruction at every level.

Once you have your data, the Numeracy Readiness Activities Guide gives you specific, ready-to-use lessons and activities to begin building each student's foundational numeracy skills right away. Activities can be led by a classroom teacher, aide, paraprofessional, or parent volunteer — and require only the common materials most schools already have on hand.

For students who need more structured support beyond the Activities Guide, the early levels of the supplemental eLibrary system and Instant Intervention provide targeted, teacher-led instruction with virtually no preparation required.
