Free Addition and Subtraction Games for K-3

Addition and Subtraction Games for Early Math Intervention

Addition and subtraction are the backbone of early elementary math — but students don't develop these skills at the same pace, and gaps that form in kindergarten and first grade tend to compound quickly. The resources on this page target the specific addition and subtraction strategies that intervention assessment data shows K–2 students most commonly struggle with: counting on, counting back, making ten, doubles facts, near doubles, and multidigit operations. Every resource is free, requires no login, and is designed to be used during whole-class smartboard instruction, small group Tier 2 intervention, or independent practice. Each activity produces a score, giving teachers an immediate progress monitoring data point without any grading.

If you are looking for a more structured approach, the Primary Numeracy Intervention Program is a free K–3 math intervention that includes a diagnostic assessment, leveled activity guides, workbooks, and over 100 ready-to-use resources — all built around the same foundational skills targeted on this page.
