Numeracy First brings 15+ years of intervention data into everyday classroom instruction. We know where students are likely to struggle, so the curriculum builds understanding there before gaps form, using explicit instruction, CRA, and error analysis in every unit.

Numeracy First is a K–5 general education mathematics program built on 15 years of intervention data and one simple idea: if we know where students are likely to struggle, why wait until they fall behind to address it?
Many Tier 1 math programs assume students have already mastered certain foundational skills. Too often, the emphasis is on covering a wide range of topics rather than developing a deep understanding of the concepts that matter most. When students move forward without that foundation, predictable breakdowns occur, and they have little understanding to fall back on.
Numeracy First takes a different approach. Using predictive data from our screening assessments, we identify where students are most likely to struggle and build additional depth into instruction before those difficulties become persistent learning gaps. The goal isn't simply to cover the curriculum. It's to build the understanding students need to succeed as mathematics becomes more complex.

Numeracy First incorporates proven instructional practices traditionally used in intervention and brings them into Tier 1 instruction, where they can benefit students before they fall behind.
These practices help students develop more than procedural fluency. They build the conceptual foundation students need to apply their learning when problems become more challenging.

For years, schools have purchased new math programs from the same publishers, hoping the next program will finally deliver better results. Yet many of the same problems remain. At some point, we have to ask ourselves: Why do we keep buying the same car from the same salesperson when the last one never ran the way we were promised?
Maybe we don't need another program built around the same assumptions. Maybe we need a smarter way to approach core instruction.
Numeracy First uses 15 years of intervention data to anticipate where students are likely to struggle, prioritize the skills that matter most, and invest the time needed to develop lasting mathematical understanding.
It's common sense: Don't wait for the breakdown to fix the problem. Build the foundation that helps prevent it in the first place.
